Mesotherapy - what to expect
You scheduled your Mesotherapy appointment - what happens next?
Upon arrival to our facility you will be asked to fill out some standard treatment and consent forms. You’ll be escorted to our treatment room and we will discuss how the treatment works, possible down time, and certain affects after the treatment such as redness or peeling. This is the time to voice any questions and concerns with the procedure. The esthetician and the Doctor will review your medical history, current medications, and your skin care concerns; this helps ensure that mesotherapy is the right treatment for you.
Be sure to tell us if you have had a cosmetic procedure in the past, scar easily, or have ever had a keloid (a type of raised scar). It also is important for us to know if you have recently used any topical retinoids (like Retin-A, Differin) or oral isotretinoin (Accutane). We recommend waiting 6 months or longer after taking the last dose of oral isotretinoin and at least 5 days after stopping topical retinoids. This reduces the risk of side effects from the procedure. Patients on blood thinners are poor candidates for this procedure as well.
You will lie comfortably on our treatment bed. Your skin will be gently cleansed to remove oils and makeup, ensuring a more effective procedure. A topical numbing cream may be applied to lessen any discomfort. The procedure involves a mesotherapy device which is designed to use varying depths of needles and suction to deliver a medication (consisting of a custom formulation of serums we choose and create for each client), directly into the tissue. This is an innovative way to treat concerns such as hyperpigmentation, scarring, and fine lines, non-invasively.
Most people will experience redness and mild swelling, similar to a mild sunburn, for 24-48 hours. There may be minimal pin-point bleeding and/or bruising. We advise you to not apply any products or creams to the treated area for 24 hours and within the first week to only use gentle and non-active ingredients. No excessive heat or sweating to the area and keep it protected with SPF.
Within a week or two, you will notice that your skin is smoother and more radiant.
